I think I'm turning into a Starbucks evangelist. Some of my friends used to tell me not to support the "corporate capitalists", but hey, I'll continue to give my support to the company because they always give me a great experience. Always.
This time I'm visiting my family up here in Central California (Lemoore, CA to be exact) where the weather is going on 110 degrees today. I wanted to sit in a chair by a window, but the heat was penetrating through despite the air conditioned shop. I ended up sitting where I am right now, in another corner, however, the music was a tad bit loud. I've managed to tune out it out... Then the manager walks over and asks, "Would you like me to turn down the music for you? I know it can get pretty loud in that corner sometimes." I'm happy that she tuned into my brain waves!
Just another great experience at Starbucks!
Trivia: Did you know that 80% of the Starbucks Corporation's (SBUX) sales come from customers who visit their shops an average of 18 times a month?1

That kind of customer service would almost make up for their weak and overpriced coffee!
I have to say that the kind of customer service you describe doesn't seem to have spread to the Starbucks in England yet.
