I'm thrilled and excited that the Miami Heat has won the NBA Championship for the first
time in franchise history! The trophy is going to a well-deserved and humble team who have faced all types of adversity...
After the game Alonzo Mourning gave such an inspirational talk to the press which included a story about his battle with kidney disease, thoughts about being a sign of hope and an inspiration to many people, and the will, perserverance and determination that the team had to win the title. But what resonated with me was his comment about "keeping the mind right" while pointing to his head. I agree with him. If you keep your mind right, you can overcome all - not succumb to it.
We can apply this concept of "keeping the mind right" in business and when interacting with customers. When your back is against the wall and your job or company is on the line, it is all about staying positive, working together as a team with coworkers and customers - as a family - and having the will to succeed. Hopefully companies like Dell and AOL can learn these lessons.
