"Are we ready to go home, or what?" A very jubilant girl sat next to me.
"Where do you work?" I asked.
"Over here at Dialamerica," she replied.
I've lived here in San Diego for eleven years and every time I've looked in the help wanted ads, I've always seen Dialamerica's ad seeking telemarketers. I assume they must have a high turnover rate because they always seem to be needing people.
"Do you like working there?" I asked - expecting her to say no and give me a bunch of horror stories so that I could share with you here.
A very slight pause. "Yes, actually I do like it," she answered.
"What do you sell?"
"Oh, a bunch of junk you wouldn't want."
Hmm...how could you enjoy selling a bunch of junk? I found it interesting that she didn't want to sell it to me, but is willing to sell it to some other stranger on the phone. Funny what people will do for money. How many other people out there are selling things that they don't stand behind?
