My Hometown Buffet Experience

I had a very pleasant dinner at Hometown Buffet tonight. Yes, Hometown Buffet!  In all the years I've eaten at that restaurant I've never experienced such great service.

First, for those of you who are not familiar with the Hometown experience, it's a restaurant that's buffet style - you basically serve yourself and eat.  Nothing special, right?

However, the guy who was cleaning tables was walking around asking everybody if dinner was going good.  When he came to my table he asked if he could refill my drink and introduced himself as Raul.  Later he returned again to refill my drink and even offered a towlette to wipe my hands when I was done eating.  He also even offered to close the blinds because the late afternoon sun was streaming through the window.

So, that's my good customer service story for the day...that little experience left me in a very, very good mood.  Remember - it is the little things that count ;) To some of you, this may not seem like such a big deal, but to me - I believe it's noteworthy considering the impact it had on the rest of my day.  I'm grinning ear to ear!

» Thoughts on Customer Expectations from CustomersAreAlways
So, my friends and I went to visit Raul again over at Hometown Buffet.  Actually, I had no idea he was going to be working on a busy Memorial Day night, but I was pleasantly greeted by him and was... [Read More]

I go into the Hometown Buffet in Madison, TN. They have a manager there that is no good only does work when the big boss is coming into town. I have seen him take the waitresses tips and pockets the money if he does this to the waitresses I imagine he will double dip the cash draw, his name is Chris. It seems like he has something on the big people because he keeps getting the managers that really work fired. He is a lazy no good account manager. They have had at least 3 great managers, Ronnie, Shelia and Al Hoji (sp?). Chris spends most of his time outside smoking instead of inside working where he needs to be. He was sleeping with one of the Hispanic waitresses and she was spying on him. The food is not hot most times it is needing to be refilled. When Ronnie was the kitchen manager that place was spotless and the food good but Chris got him fired. I do not believe I know anybody in that restaurant that likes Chris because of his work ethics. He has favorites and it is mostly Hispanic women that can come and go as they feel and the other waiter's and/or waitresses do a lot of work and get overlooked.
