As a work-at-home blogger and entrepreneur, work can sometimes become overwhelming. There's articles to write, magazines to read, online marketing to take care of, etc. etc.
I sit here at my computer and I start to get that feeling again....that there's-too-much-to-do-and-not-enough-time-to-do-it feeling.
Then my eyes fall on the picture of me, Zoe and little Lorenzo. Lorenzo is looking up into a bush full of flowers where the sun shines bright, wearing his first pair of shoes that I've come to fit him with.
About a week prior to that day a lady came into the Nordstrom children's shoe department to see if it was possible for someone to go to the Children's Hospital to fit little Lorenzo who had just started to walk. I told the lady that I would go out there.
Lorenzo seemed so happy to get his first pair of shoes, unlike many toddlers who kick and scream. He was a joyful little boy who had cancer, but he didn't let that stop him from enjoying life.
Little Lorenzo passed away not too long after that visit with him. And so I'll remember him...because he served to remind me that life is way too short and people count more than "sales and figures". Being there for your customer when they need you the most is more important than "making the sale".
Now I take a sigh of relief and realize that all the work I "need" to do doesn't seem so important anymore...

Maria, very good customer service indeed! So heartwarming! I feel for Lorenzo's mother (being a mother myself) and my hats off to you for going beyond the call of duty to attend to your customer. No wonder Nordstrom is successful. It's lucky to have you on board.
