“People don’t remember exactly what you did, or what you said… but they will always remember how you made them feel.” –Author Unknown
I found the above quote via the Career Intensity blog where Dave Lorenzo offers his advice on developing people skills:
Be yourself. Though you might be able to attract friends and business partners by assuming an alternate identity, this does not benefit you in the long run. Being who you are and letting people know what you’re all about does, however.
Be involved. The most basic conversation topics can lead to wonderful discussions about work, philosophy, the future. You never know where it’s going to go—but the only way to get to a good place is to start walking.
Be open. While being who you are and expressing your unique opinions is a must, you should also keep your mind open to other points of view.
What I hope you learned through reading this is that exceptional customer service is truly about having relationships with people. When you have relationships with people, you begin to care about them, which in turn will inspire you to do more for them.
