I have a friend who works at home and takes care of her four boys(!). I don't know how she does it, but I have much respect for her and all the mom's who can juggle all of that and not lose their sanity. I don't have kids and I already have a hard enough time with all that I have to do :)
So, for all you work at home parents, Marta Wells over at WorkFromHomeMomma offers some customer service tips which can certainly be applied to those who don't work at home as well:
Stay in communication with your customers without hovering. Make random calls asking about what they like and don't like. Ask where improvements can be made or what other services or products they would like to see you offer.
Offer incentives or thank yous for customers that do share their opinions with you, solicited or not. Do the same anytime they refer a friend to you and your business.
Read up on customer service tips and advice in business publications such as our blog Customers Are Always. (Thanks for the link, Marta!)
Make it a point to get to know your customers by first name and then use it in your transactions with them.
