Oh, c'mon, did she really get yelled at? Puh-lease. If I got yelled at by my boss for asking a simple question, do you think I would still be working there? Who wants to work for someone who yells at you?
Anyhow, I don't think it's such a big deal to give a customer a half-portion, especially if the portions are big to begin with. If you make the customer pay for the full portion, he/she may not even eat all of it and the food may just end up in the garbage. Big waste. And think about all the other starving people in the world....
