The Consumerist tells the story of "Widgett Walls" who's been a
customer for seven years. Long-story-short, Widgett gets turned down by T-Mobile for a $50 special on a phone because a rep says the special is "expired". So, Widgett leaves T-Mobile - after spending thousands of dollars over the course of seven years with the company.
A reader, Danilo, comments:
"Hmm, I'm not sure I would let $50 sour my relationship with T-Mo in that situation. The "it's just $50 argument" works both ways. What if he's now stuck with a new carrier that's truly nasty, in addition to stingy?"
Yes, I can see it from both perspectives. It's almost like a marriage or a friendship. If your friend refused to give you $50, would you leave and go find a new friend even if that friend had treated you pretty good for the past seven years?
But at the same time, you know that your friend is worth millions of dollars...but can't even share a measly $50? I may be a little bitter...
