
I know many of us would just love it if we could get a big account for our business - big account meaning a huge corporation, thus the word "elephant" - which is used in Steve Kaplan's book called Bag the Elephant! How to Win and Keep Big Customers.
Here is Steve's advice as to how customer service should be offered to these Elephants:
"...Lavish plenty of attention on your Elephant. Make that big company feel looked after and cherished. Answer questions quickly. Address problems immediately. Be kind to your Elephant, and it will be kind to you...Potential clients should feel that working with your business will be a pleasant experience. It strengthens the relationship."
I think this advice can be applied to all types of customers, not just big ones...We all thrive on attention!
