I'm sure there has been a time when you asked an associate in a store where a particular item was and all they do is point you in the direction of where it is. Recently I was in a store where a man asked a sales associate where men's dress slacks were.
"It's in men's furnishings," the associate answered. (Huh? Duh... I'm sure he knew that!)
"And where's men furnishings?" he asked.
"Go straight down that aisle and make a left," she replied.
Does she not know the ten step rule? You're supposed to walk the customer to where they need to go or at least take ten steps with them in that direction.
The helper in me stepped in and took over...
"I know where it is. I'll walk with you," I said to the man.
Being that I'm easily overwhelmed and confused when I go into a store (I can be a shopaphobic at times), I definitely appreciate it when someone escorts me to exactly what I'm looking for.
