The Search For Audi Feedback Begins..

My dream car is an Audi A8.  I've been dreaming about it for about six years now and yes, one day I will own that car!  However, I do oftAUDI_A8.JPGen wonder how Audi's customer service is, because ultimately I will be sold on service, no matter what car it is.

I don't have any friends that own an Audi so I can't get any feedback on their service.  But it so happens that as I searched the net looking for a good customer service story, I came across That Canadian Girl's blog. She tells about an Audi experience that makes me smile:

"The kind staff at Audi offered to give us vouchers....without any hassle or questions...This to me shows that these companies have understood the long-term value of a loyal and happy customer versus the immediate-cash in."

By the way - if you have an Audi experience to share, please let me know!

Margaret and Chris,

I thank you for sharing your story with me. I have posted a response here at my Audi blog:
http://audilover.blogspot.com/2006/10/audi-customer-service-is-questioned.html

I suggest to any one considering buying an Audi to think twice. I bought my A4 2.5 years ago. Thinking I would get something to be reliable, since I drive a lot (124,000 in that time). The car has been towed more times than I can remember. Mostly for not starting. I've been told that this is not normal, but they have no proble with charging me to "fix" it. I've spent $5,000 in the last 2 months alone, and I'm no closer to getting a dependable car. In my 40 years of driving and owning cars, this has been BY FAR the most un-reliable car I have ever experenced.

I bought my Audi A4 1.8T in 2000 new. Over the last 7 years of ownership (and 69,000 miles)I have had to replace different sensors on the engine 7 different times, the last, just 2 weeks ago at $700 for two oxygen sensors. Just 4 days later I was in Audi service again for a hose that needed to be ordered, and a total of $170 would be needed. I was so mad I sent my Audi to the used car auction. I also had to replace brake pads every 11,000 miles. I thought this was also unreasonable. I will never buy an Audi again and instead have decided to buy a Subaru, which takes regular gas, and regular oil,has AWD (I went to synthetic oil when Audi saw what happened to its engines with regular oil) and Subaru has all the neat features that Audi had at $10,000 less! (Plus the safety features have improved greatly over the last 7 years!)I felt their Service department was responsive, however, I suffered each time I went in. This is only my experience, and does not suggest this happens with all Audis--I was ready for a change, and less maintenance each year.

This write up is specifically aimed at the service experiences I have had at the Roger Beasly Audi Austin dealership...I hope this helpe someone.

I have been an Audi enthusiast for quite some time, and only recently have become VERY dissapointed in their customer service. The last 2 times I took my new $50,000 + Audi A6 into the dealer for routine service as well as an Air Bag sensor that had gone bad, they had me waiting in the showroom forever while the car was being worked on. Let's define forever. My first trip in they said the service would take about 1/2 hour, so I saw no need to secure a loaner. I would simply sit, have a nice coffee and wait for my vehicle - for the short time the management quoted me. 2 hours later my car was completed and I was off - unhappily.

My latest experience this week was the worst I have ever had with Audi, and has had me seriously thinking of switching brands (consequently my wife's car is the new Q7). I was told by management once again that the service on my car would only take 1 hour - so again, I saw no need to secure a loaner (of which is virtually impossible to secure anyway). Well, after inquiring as to the status of my Audi no less than 5 times over the exhausting 4 hours...they finally came and told me it was ready. They did state that they needed to clean it first, and (Oh My Goodness) all of their cleaning staff had vanished to lunch. So, I would need to wait yet another hour or so for the car. Needless to say, my response went something like "give me the *%$&* keys so I can get the @&%$ out of here.

Audi makes a great car, no doubt. But I have seen their service slip to levels no one paying over $50,000 for a car should have to endure. This is certainly something you should take into account befor buying an Audi...they are definitely getting more and more well known for their service - just NOT in a good way.

Matt

You are an unfortunate case Thomas, have you tried to report this on Audi back office? This is a strong brand, i am sure it would have considered your problems. They cannot afford to release bad products on the market.

Where to begin... I currently own an Audi A4 purchased it in 2002 brand new. Over the past 5 years I have spent more than 8,000 dollars in repairs. I think that is enough said, and that I will never purchase an Audi again. Oh yes, one more thing, my car currently has 69,000 miles and the engine is being replaced (again) as I am typing this letter. The total for that is an estimated 7,000 dollars.

If anyone is thinking of purchasing an Audi, think twice. I am absolutely disgusted with Audi. They are not a reputable company, and their customer service leaves much to be desired. I had wanted an Audi for 15 years, and we leased an 2006 A4 wagon. Things went fine until 18 months into the lease. The car started having problems with running rough in April '07. It has been in and out of the shop four times. Two of the times the car was in the shop for 30 days. Each time we get it back, we continue to have problems. While the car has been in the shop, there have been no offers of loaner vehicles. We have tried to work with the local dealer as well as Audi USA. They will not consent to providing us with a replacement vehicle, nor letting us out of our lease, nor giving us any kind of break on lease payments. So, we have made four lease payments on a vehicle we have not been able to use. It should have been a big red flag when they asked us to fill out the customer evaluation with all the highest possible rankings when we bought the car. If a company is good, they don't have to ask their customers to give them straight A's, they work to earn them. Their high markings are bogus.

Dear all that i have just bought a brand new A6 without reading these kinds of comments. I have owned a A4 before (used Car) and it had so many little problems then but i was hoping that a brand new car would go differently. but u guys really scared me and i started to think my new A6 has brake problem (it only went 600 km) in that when i drive in slow speed, there is always brake pulsation that is hard to control.

I shall update you guys on any further problem that i shall have.
