It seems that Bush's OK on outsourcing has stirred up some interesting commentary...
Yesterday, Russell Shaw of The Huffington Post offered his opinion:
"It is the exporting of American customer service and technology development jobs to places like this that has pitched loyal and well-qualified workers on the street.... But their jobs were shipped out because the greedy institutional investors that were the largest shareholders at these outsourced workers former employers shipped their jobs to places like Hyderabad."
Since Russell's posting, he's received 48 comments to his blog regarding this topic!
What are your thoughts?
I'm on the fence with this one....
On one hand, I would love to spread the wealth to those less fortunate than us. These people don't have nearly as many opportunities that we have here in the U.S. They don't have the unemployment insurance that we have - most of them probably don't even know what insurance is.
On the other hand, there are some major cultural differences. People in other countries may not understand or care to understand how business is done in the U.S. Their philosophy of service may be totally off from what we're used to.
My solution for those who lose their jobs here in the U.S. is to start your own business!! "Job security" is an oxymoron :)
