When I worked in Nordstrom's kids shoe department, the Half-Yearly
Sales were pretty chaotic. It was easy to get caught up in the craziness of shoes, stinky feet, and customer orders. It was a common thing to have a pile of papers with customer's names and phone numbers who needed shoes transferred from another store. And losing a phone number was just as common. I had panick attacks when a phone number was lost because I knew that the customer would end up calling me to find out what happened with the transfer, and of course, I wouldn't remember what they had wanted!
Lesson for the day: Be organized - your customers are counting on you! Being organized seems like a common sense, but you'd be surprised how many business owners I see that have papers strewn all over their desk and couldn't find anything if their life depended on it!
