Whenever I was interviewed for a position in customer service I was always asked, "What do you like about customer service/sales?" And my answer was always, "Because every day was different." I don't like routine jobs where I'm doing the same things and talking to the same people day in and day out.
But you know what, you can't look at customer service like it's just another "job". Customer service is about wanting to make a difference in someone's life. You're the catalyst for bigger and better things for other people. If you're a car salesman, you are helping someone own something that is the second biggest purchase of their life. It could be their dream car and every moment of that transaction will live with them for the rest of their lives.
And so, you have to look at your work as an adventure. You just never know what is in store for you. And yes, there will be tests, as there are always tests in life. Yes, there will be the bad and often crazy experiences with customers, but it's those situations that help you grow as a person.
