
Nothing is more annoying to me than not being greeted by someone when I enter a business establishment.
Today I went to the check cashing place to purchase a money order. I walked in and the first lady behind the counter looks at me and then just goes back to doing what she was doing. The second lady behind the counter was just sitting there eating her food.
I stood there for a minute waiting for someone to acknowledge me. Finally, the lady eating her food unwillingly says, "I'll help you."
"I'd like a money order for $16, please."
She makes out the money order and hands it to me.
"Thank you," I say.
"Yup," she replies.
Now, what's wrong with that picture? Do you think I'm going to go back to that place?
Customers love to be acknowledged and greeted. It's probably one of the most important things anyone working in customer service can do. Greeting the customer shows that you are willing and available to help if needed.
If you do anything at all, please, greet your customer!
