
Have you ever signed up to receive information or a newsletter from a website, only to be bombarded with emails that are always trying to sell you something? I believe the fastest way to lose a customer is to consistently send them an email pushing some product or affiliate program. Gosh, darnit, I signed up to receive tips, articles, valuable information, and all I get is a sales pitch!
I signed up to receive emails from a local scrapbook store thinking I would receive updates on sales and new products. I did receive those notices, however, I was also sent junk email which I didn't appreciate. All I wanted was sales and new product alerts. Needless to say, I opted out from the email list.
Hendry Lee, from MarketingLoop.com talks about a survey of consumers in which only 19 percent of consumers who sign up to receive emails from a company get what they want. Makes me think twice about giving out my email address!
