When you find a great place to shop or receive exceptional service from a customer service rep, don't you usually tell your friends? I know I get excited when I come across bargains or a beauty product that works wonders. Customers want their friends and family to share in the joy.
I know a real estate agent who does absolutely no advertising. All her new clients come from current clients who love how they are treated by her. This agent once paid to have the plumbing fixed for a buyer. That $600, which she calls an "investment", resulted in 25 more sales for her. The buyer recommended the agent to everybody! In San Diego, those 25 sales adds up to boo-koo commissions :)
Most salespeople forget to ask customers for referrals - which is a missed opportunity to make more money. It is a misconception that customers wouldn't want to offer friends phone numbers or addresses, but you'll be surprised - happy customers do want their friends and family to know about the "Great Discovery".
